Making a PerkyPoll
Getting Started - To make a PerkyPoll, click the big button that says "make a poll" - that's the hard part!
Response Collection Date Range - You can choose the starting and ending vote collection dates for your PerkyPoll. Your poll can be visible both before and after but it won't accept votes.
Requiring Login to Vote - If you want, you can only collect votes from Perksters who are logged in when they vote. That way, the results you collect will be more valuable because you'll be able to sort them by the Perksters age, gender, etc.
Hiding your PerkyPoll - If you want to keep your PerkyPoll private, just hide it! That way, it won't show up in searches at PerkyPoll.com. Of course, you and anybody else will be able to view it, vote and explore the results. But only if they have the web address for the poll. And they'll only have that address if you give it to them!
Once you get this far, click "save & continue"
Adding Tags - To help people find your poll at PerkyPoll.com, you should add tags. That way, it will show up with the other polls that have that same tag. There will probably be some suggested tags. If you want to use them, just give them a click!
When you're ready, click "save & continue" to save your work.
Adding Questions and Choices - Next, you'll need to write some questions and choices. There are a bunch of different kinds of question types you can choose from. (More info in the faq.) Feel free to experiment with the different question types and also try out different wording for your questions. You can always change them before you start collecting votes. You can also change the order of the questions and choices by dragging the arrows up and down.
Don't forget to save your changes!
Publishing Your PerkyPoll - When you're PerkyPoll is ready to go, click the publish link. See how your poll looks, try voting and maybe go back to make a few changes. To make changes, you'll need to unpublish your poll. It's good to go through this design process to perfect your poll. When you unpublish and make changes, you'll lose your practice votes. (More info in the faq.) When you're ready, you can tell the world about your PerkyPoll!
Collecting Responses - There are four main ways to collect responses for your PerkyPoll: Let people find your poll on PerkyPoll.com, email the link to everybody, put your poll in a widget you add to your web page, let other people collaborate and put it on their website.
Making a Widget
Getting Started - To get started making a widget, click the big button that says "make a widget" - oh so easy to do. But make some polls first. Because a widget without a poll is boring!
Name and Location - Name your widget so you and everybody else can keep track. The name shows up when people use the results explorer™ so choose the name wisely! You should also provide the URL where you will place your widget widget. If you don't know the URL yet, you can add it later.
Once you've done that, go add polls!
Adding PerkyPolls - You can add any or all of your polls (as long as they don't require login.) Simply click the checkmark and the poll jumps into the widget. If you have a bunch of polls in your widget, they'll be rotated each time the page holding the widget is loaded. Drag the slider to make a poll show up more often. To remove a poll from a widget, click the trash can.
How easy is that!
Copy and Paste Your Widget - Once you've loaded up your widget, go get the code snippet and paste it on your website. Before you do, choose the size and type of widget you want.
You also get a preview of your widget! That's perky!
Collaborating on a PerkyPoll
Creating a Collaboration Widget - Most every PerkyPoll has a collaborate button, click it to become a collaborator. You can even do this with polls you didn't make! Anyway, the poll gets loaded into a widget you can put on your website. It's as easy as that.
